Lucknow: The Regional Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, successfully organized its prestigious “Vardhani” programme at the Akademi campus in Aliganj, providing a vibrant platform for young artists to present their artistic journeys, research, and creative innovations before art enthusiasts and scholars.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by distinguished guest Umendra Pratap Singh and Regional Secretary Dr. Devendra Tripathi. On the occasion, artists recently honored with fellowships from the Ministry of Culture were felicitated with bouquets. The awardees included Rashmi Srivastava (Senior Fellowship), Dheeraj Yadav (Junior Fellowship), Ranjana Mishra (Junior Fellowship), and Prateek Mishra (Young Artists Scholarship), whose achievements were hailed as an inspiration for the artistic community.

The highlight of the event was a series of presentations by Akademi scholars. Sculptor Prachi Agrawal shared insights into her creative process and the challenges of working with diverse materials such as marble, sandstone, and terracotta bricks. Through her exploration of contemporary human figures, she demonstrated how seemingly rigid materials can be transformed into expressive forms reflecting human emotions, struggles, and modern-day complexities.

Painting scholar Tanya Gupta presented her artistic journey through the theme of motherhood. She explained how her mother has been the primary source of inspiration behind her work. Using paper and canvas as her medium, Tanya depicted the tenderness, strength, and protective nature associated with motherhood. Her thoughtful use of colors and flowing compositions resonated deeply with the audience, illustrating how personal experiences can be transformed into universally relatable artistic expressions.

Speaking at the event, renowned artist Umendra Pratap Singh praised the originality and dedication displayed by both scholars. He noted that the spirit of experimentation combined with respect for cultural roots among young artists is an encouraging sign for the future of Indian art. He also motivated the scholars to continue their research and creative pursuits while engaging in meaningful dialogue about the challenges faced by emerging artists.

Regional Secretary Dr. Devendra Tripathi emphasized that the “Vardhani” programme was more than a formal lecture series. He described it as a meaningful initiative aimed at bringing art closer to the public while providing a valuable platform for emerging talent. Art lovers, educators, students, and members of the Akademi actively participated in discussions with the artists, making the event highly interactive and enriching.

Officials and staff members of the Regional Centre were also present during the programme. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all guests, participants, and attendees. The initiative was widely appreciated as an important step toward preserving artistic traditions, encouraging innovation, and nurturing the next generation of creative talent in India.
